CT scan fuzzy/incomplete mesh

I run a CT Metrotom. We utilize our own 3d printed fixtures to hold up to 5 parts. From time to time we get a fuzzy, incomplete mesh that looks like someone tried to spray paint the part....Our basic procedure is to delete the stl's and polygonize the 'volume', box the part and then  run a smooth and thinning operation and somehow we come up with a good looking mesh. Is there a reason the output is bad initially? Does the CT scanner perhaps have trouble with the 3d printed fixtures?  This can happen randomly, but certain parts it happens most of the time.  Thank you, I have a ton to learn and just completed the GOM inspect lesson.

Hello Tim,

I think it's best to contact your local distributor with the measuring data in this case. This is probably out of the scope of this forum and we need to have a look at the data.

Regards,
Nanno
