GD&T deviation labels, and MIN/MAX labels

Hi All,

I noticed that deviation labels for surface profile tolerances and those for position tolerances behave differently.

It seems to me that surface profile labels are positive when actual is higher than nominal (too much material, positive surface deviation).

Position tolerance labels are lot harder to understand.
They seem to depend on the positive direction of the datum's normal, which usually is pointing out of the material.

In below example, if all points of the rim are "below" their nominal position (as in #1), do they all have a positive deviation, because the datum's normal is pointing downward?

And how do the min/max labels behave?

Is the picture correct? If it isn't, can anyone please correct it? I attached the PowerPoint: Presentation.pptx

Correct

The only inspect the resulting deviation plot. The minimum label points to the minimum deviation value (with respect to the sign) and the maximum label to the maximum label.

Yes your picture seems to be correct.
