Number of used point while creating plane has no influence on flatness

Hello everyone,

I’ve found out, that sigma setting while constructing a plane has no influence on flatness result?

How should I properly eliminate outlier for flatness?

Hi Michael,

the sigma factor that you are referring to will be used for the computation of the fitting plane only, i.e. the visualized green plane may differ depending on your settings in the construction dialog for the plane. However, the result of all GD&T inspections (tolerances, dimensions, datum systems) will not be affected. This is true for other fitting elements (sphere, cylinder, ...) as well. It's not a bug but a deliberate choice from our side. If you want to reduce the effect of outliers in the flatness computation, you can specify a GD&T filter according to ISO 16610 in the flatness dialog. These filters are available since the 2023 version of Zeiss Inspect.
