Hello,

I would like to know if is possible to construct a cylinder between two cylinders using those two cylinders as shown in the picture?

Thanks

Hello Alonso,

you could select both cylinders and right click -> restore point selection and create a new fitting cylinder out of the selection (Gaussian for example).

Hi,

please be careful if you really search the constructed (nominal) cylinder. It seems to me that you have two nominal cylinders and you want to create the cylinder with the average diameter. The described fitting approach could work but depending on the sampling of the points on the surface you can get an "unexpected" cylinder which has a different diameter than expected (potentially also the direction could be influenced or the center). The selected points would not result in a fitting cylinder which residual is near to zero, it would have a contradiction in the selected points and therefore the result is dependent from the sampling.

If you really like to use the fitting approach, try a 'Chebyshev' fit with with the location 'Middle'

A different approach would be to construct this cylinder:

  • Construct a point on the inner cylinder
  • Construct another point via 'Project point' on the outer cylinder using the constructed point on the inner cylinder
  • Construct a division point from these points constructed on the surfaces on both cylinders
  • Use this division point as 'radius point' e.g. in function Point-Direction-Cylinder

Regards,

Bernd
